Is your bra making you ill?

It isn't just about looks, a poor fit can cause

back pain, indigestion and even headaches

But getting it right couldn't be easier.

Are you constantly pulling up your bra straps? Do your shoulders fall forward? Do your bosoms bounce when you walk, despite your new balcony bra with lace trim? The chances are you are among the majority of women who have never had a proper bra fitting, and whose posture and back health are compromised as a result.

Attitudes about bra fit and function vary by generation. Younger women are more likely to find that their bra doesn't fit properly because, in the good old days, pubescent girls were almost always fitted for bras. The idea of being fitted for a bra when I was 13 would have been gross, but everything looks different after my bra epiphany, which happened in Night Owls on the Fulham Road, in south-west London.

"Your bra doesn't fit properly!" the lady at the cash register shouted, as I checked out the pink flannel pyjamas. I pretended not to notice. "I bet you've never had a bra fitting in your life!" continued the voice. She marched over. I was wearing an expensive underwired bra, designed to give "lift". I had tried it on in the shop, but that was not, I was told, a proper fitting. "I bet your back strap's half way up your shoulder blades. Look at your posture! Your bust line is sinking!" My ear lobes, she said, were almost attached to my shoulders. I'd spent years compromising my breast and back health, apparently, and my bra was a load of "shite". I told her I'd always been a 36C. "Rubbish," she snorted. "You're a 30- or 32E."
This was a shock; I'd only come in for pyjamas. As chairman of the PTA, I did not want an E cup. It sounded huge, like Jordan.

All this is not just a matter of vanity. Last week, the British Chiropractic Association (BCA) warned that wearing the wrong bra size can lead to a number of problems, including back pain, restricted breathing, abrasions, breast pain and poor posture. The problems are even more acute in large-breasted women. "Bras are like suspension bridges," says the BCA's Tim Hutchful. "You need a well-engineered bra so your shoulders don't end up doing all the work. Bras that don't fit will affect the shoulders and chest, and will almost certainly cause back pain as you get older."

The woman prodding, pulling and hoiking introduced herself as Yolanda Ktori. A passionate advocate of corsetry, she has seen the profession clobbered by our smash-and-grab society. "Women buy bras off the shelf at M&S [though it does offer a fitting service], and don't have a clue what size they are. Some stores offer fittings, but most women don't bother." She pushed my shoulders down and pulled my blades back, showing me where the strap should sit: on the meaty part of the shoulder towards the neckline, locking in with the shoulders and streamlining down the back to stop slipping. "It's like the reins on a horse. You pull everything back, not forward," she says.

The corsetry experts at Rigby & Peller estimate that 80 per cent of women that come through their doors are wearing the wrong-sized bra, and also stress that badly fitting bras can lead to back problems and bad posture. The most common bra solecisms are cups that are too small and bands that are loose around the back causing the shoulders to carry the weight of the bosoms, instead of the back. A bra must be firm (not tight) around the back and support the weight of the breasts in the mid to lower back. Rigby & Peller says the back band should be level with the underwire (Ktori says an inch-and-a-half lower).

Jon-Morton Bell, an osteopath, agrees that properly fitting bras are key to back health. "Ladies have to do a balancing act with gravity," he says. "Proper support for the breasts has a huge impact on back health. The best place to support the breasts is through the lumbar (lower back), but often, women take the strain through the thoracic (around the ribcage), which can cause a curved back. If a woman is bending forward because of insufficient breast support, the trapezius overstretches and causes headaches. All nerve roots come from the back; stomach upsets and fatigue are common by-products of bad back health. If ladies have a proper bra-fitting, back problems are often resolved."

There are even those who have claimed that there is a link between underwired bras and breast cancer.
In their book Dressed to Kill, Sydney Ross Singer and Soma Grismaijer claim that the external pressure of the bra constricts the lymphatic vessels and prevents proper draining of the breast tissue, leading to fluid accumulation in the breast. Western rates of the disease are 10 times those of developing countries because, they tell us, women in the latter tend not to wear bras, let alone cleavage-heaving cross-your heart-and-hope-to-die wonder bras. They urge women to abandon bras and embrace freedom, but don't substantiate their claims with any supportive comparisons in diet, lifestyle or genetic history.
The metal in underwired bras is unpopular with acupuncturists as it crosses the body's meridians and blocks the flow of chi, they say, which can cause energy to stagnate. But breast cancer? Lynn Daly, from Cancer Research UK, says: "You would need to wear a bra that was painfully and unbearably tight to have any effect on your lymphatic system, but constriction or applying pressure to an area of the body does not cause normal cells to become cancerous."
"It's not rocket science," says Yolanda Ktori. "Saggy bosoms are bad for your back. Get a bra that fits properly. You wouldn't wear shoes that are too tight, would you? Women who have their bra fitted properly tell me it's changed their lives."

The wrong bra? How you can tell
Kate Horrell, fitting expert for the online lingerie shop figleaves.com, recommends looking closely in the mirror for the telltale signs that you're wearing the wrong bra size.

The underband is riding up

Lift up your arms to see whether the bra is tight enough. The underband should fit firmly against the body so that it does not slide about during normal activity.

The shoulder straps are digging in
The underband of a bra provides the majority (80 per cent) of support for the breasts, with the straps providing just 20 per cent. If the bra straps are digging in, it could be because the underband is too loose and you are over-adjusting the straps to feel supported. When you do this, the straps pull the bra up at the back, another sign that the band is too loose.

The centre fold is lifting away from the body
The centre front of the bra should lie flat against the body. If it doesn't, the cups could be too small.

The back band is overstretched

If your straps are too far apart at the back (they should be parallel), it may be that your bra band is too small and so is overstretching.

Know your H2O MOP X5 better ..

Get to know some great stuff about your
H2O MOP X5 !!
Your 5-in-1 Steam cleaner with variable Steam

Does the H2O Mop X5 kill bed bugs?

Ans- Yes, the H2O Mop X5 kills up to 99% of house-hold bacteria, as well as bed bugs. We recommend steaming any mattresses and upholstery with your upholstery / garment steaming attachment. The hot steam kills bacteria and bed bugs, while the microfiber cloth lifts and locks them.

How long do the Microfiber pads last?

Ans- Microfiber Pads can last between 6 months and 1 year depending on the usage, and the care taken.
To prolongue the life of your Microfiber Pads, please follow these care instructions:
- Machine wash 60 ºC (140 ºF)
- Do not bleach
- Do not use softener
- Allow to air dry

Will this be effective on my car upholstery??

Ans- The upholstery / garment steaming attachment is a great tool to clean car upholstery. The hot steam loosens stains and odors, while the microfiber cloth lifts and locks it.

What type of water do I use?
Ans- The H2O Mop X5 uses tap water. However, in areas with hard water, distilled water or Boiled/Soft water should be used for better performance.

My mop stopped producing steam/is producing very little steam, what can I do for this?
Ans- Be sure that the unit is disconnected from the power outlet when performing cleaning. Drain the remaining water in the tank and clean the tank after every use. Please use detergent to clean the accessories (jet Nozzle and Round Brush) when they are dirty, then wash with clean water and air dry.

How to decalcify the Water Tank interior:
To clean calcium deposits that build up inside the Water Tank, add one or two tablespoons of white vinegar to a full Water Tank, close the Water Tank cap and shake the contents. Do NOT turn the steamer on.
Do not immerse the H2O Mop X5 in water.
Cleaning procedure to remove lime scale:
  • If your H2O Mop X5 begins to produce steam more slowly than usual or stops producing steam you may need to remove lime scale. Lime scale can develop over time on the metal parts and greatly affect mop performance. It is necessary to remove lime scale on a regular basis, every 25 – 50 tomes you use a full tank of water or a least once a month, especially in areas with hard water. The frequency of lime scale removal depends upon the hardness of your tap water and how often you use the steam mop. The H2O Mop X5 uses tap water. However, in areas with hard water, distilled water should be used for better performance.
  • Removal of lime scale from the H2O Mop X5 by using scraper:
    • Make sure that the H2O Mop X5 is disconnected from the power supply before maintenance.
    • Use the Cleaning Pin provided with your unit to remove scale deposits from the small hole of the steam outlet in the main Body (see instruction manual for detailed illustration) by swirling and pushing the pin up and down you will clean the steam outlet. Always ensure that all scale debris have been removed from the steam outlet before reassembling. Continue swirling Cleaning Pin until no further debris is evident.
  • By using cleaning solution:
    • Prepare a solution of ½ white vinegar and 2/3 tap water and add to the water tank.
    • Secure and position the unit to ensure steam released is aimed away from the floor or surrounding objects and surfaces and away from any body part. Plug the unit in, turn the unit ON by pressing the Power Switch (O/I) and allow the unit to produce steam until the vinegar/water solution is used up.
    • Repeat the above procedure as many times as necessary until a normal steam flow rate is achieved.
    • Fill the Water Tank with fresh water and rinse out.
    • Fill the Water Tank with fresh water, attach to the unit and release steam through the system until the Water Tank is empty.
Do not leave the steamer unattended during the lime scale removal process and/or while in use. Perform a test cleaning on a suitable isolated area after each lime scale removal to ensure that there is no debris left in the system.
  • Cleaning blocked steamer accessories:
    • Due to the high mineral content of water in some areas, you may notice that less steam comes out from the Hand-Held Steamer accessories. This may be caused by calcium buildup inside the tip of the nozzle. How to clean the buildup: We recommend using a spray lubricant. Spray a small burst or two of the lubricant inside the tip of the Jet Nozzle. After spraying lubricant inside the component, fill the steamer with water according to the directions and run a continuous jet of steam through the affected accessory for several minutes to remove the deposit. Once the steam pathway is clear, aim the steamer at a neutral surface or a cleaning cloth to make sure no debris is emitted. We recommend performing this procedure in a protected and well- ventilated area
How can I prevent my H2O Mop X5 from leaving puddles of water?
Ans- To avoid puddling of water, the Microfiber Cloth must be clean and dry for use. To replace the cleaning cloth, proceed as follows: Let the cleaning cloth cool down, remove cloth from unit, replace with a new Microfiber Cloth and continue use. Select Low steam regulator position for minimal steam.

Conventional Cleaning VS Steam Cleaning !

Your Guide to Cleaning Laminate Floor

Laminate floor is a very common choice for home flooring because of the way it mimics the look and feel of hardwood floor but without the disadvantages of the latter, such as the high level of maintenance and the cost of getting hardwood floors in the first place. Laminate floors look so much like hardwood floors, but they are way easier to maintain, and it gets even easier if you have a floor steam mop.

The Conventional Laminate Floor Cleaning Method

Traditionally, cleaning laminate floors is easily done with the use of the following tools:
  • Commercial laminate floor cleaner
  • Sponge mop
  • Bucket of clean warm water
  • Vacuum cleaner with soft brush
  • Broom
The first thing to do is to sweep your floor to remove loose debris and dust, then to vacuum it to completely get rid of the dust and pet hair especially in the corners. Once loose dust and debris are completely removed, apply the commercial laminate floor cleaner to the floor as directed by the product manual and use the sponge mop to scrub the floor. Make sure to use smooth and even strokes; otherwise, you will leave unsightly streaks and spots when you’re done. Also, make sure not to let the mop’s handle come into contact with the surface as it might scratch the surface. When you’re done, rinse the mop and wait for the floor to dry.

THE EASIER OPTION - The Steam Cleaning Method

H2O MOP X5 is an efficient and convenient steam cleaner designed to clean floors.
Its lightweight and comes with a long, extended handle attached to a compact steam head. Unlike regular steam cleaners that are heavy and bulky, H2O MOP X5 steam mops are much easier to use. All you have to do is push them along ahead of you like a mop, and with its steam mop head, it can easily fit under tables, chairs, cabinets, and so on. This way, they can clean every inch of your flooring.
You don't need a sponge or bucket or brooms !!! No scrubbing and getting tired ! Just Steam Clean your home space, save on time, money and energy !!!
The H2O MOP X5 is THE household electronic to OWN !!!!!
